Meet Scarlett Baker

Children's Author · Storyteller · Believer in the Magic of Reading Aloud

Scarlett Baker is a children's author who believes stories are sparks that light a lifelong love of learning. Through magical tales filled with wonder, kindness, and imagination, she celebrates the special moments when parents and grandparents share stories with children — moments where voices, pages, and hearts connect.

Inspired by her background in early childhood education, Scarlett writes with the belief that children learn best through story, not instruction. Rather than delivering a lesson, her books gently guide young readers toward their own discoveries — about kindness, courage, gratitude, and what it means to truly belong.

Scarlett writes with the hope that reading together becomes a cherished ritual, nurturing curiosity, empathy, and the joy of storytelling that lasts a lifetime.

Why I Wrote Poppy

Stories have always been how I make sense of the world — and how I've watched children make sense of theirs. Poppy was born from a deep belief that the wisest lessons don't come from being told what to think. They come from gathering around a fire, listening to a story, and finding the meaning yourself.

I wrote this book for the children who need to hear they are enough. And for the grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and teachers who already know it — and are looking for the perfect way to say so.
